Learning to Work are thrilled to invite your Year 7 students to participate in the Ascot Racecourse and 1711 By Ascot Junior Bake Off Competition.
The theme for Ascot Racecourse in 2023 and the competition is the King’s Coronation. With this theme in mind students are tasked with creating and baking a ‘Tray Bake’. Ascot Racecourse’s definition of a Tray Bake is “something sweet that has been baked in a rectangle tray or a square tray and then can be cut in to individual portions”.
The Grand Final of the competition will be held at Ascot Racecourse on 18th April 2023 and will involve the winning team from each school showcasing to a panel of judges at Ascot Racecourse:
· Their completed ‘tray bake’ creation
· A team mood board showing their journey from sourcing local ingredients, to design, decoration and naming of their creation.
In celebration of the winning team, their tray bake will be promoted and available for sale on retail menu during Summer Mile Family Raceday on Saturday 15th July 2023.
Entries are limited so we are allocating places on a first come basis.
Competition and team criteria:
· 3 students per team
· Ingredients to be locally sourced
· A3 Mood board to be created showing the teams ideas and journey from start to Grand Final
· At the Grand Final, each team will dress their table to display the tray bake, mood board and school details.
To decide which team will represent your school at the Ascot & 1711 Grand Final in April, heats are to be delivered and judged in school to select your winning team and school representatives.
The winning team from each school will be invited to attend Ascot and the Grand Final complete with their tray bake (pre-cooked) and their mood board to meet the judging panel. Also invited to attend is 1 teacher per school and 1 parent per student. Finalists will need to bring a tablecloth and any decoration for their table.
